Seamless buying, purchasing, and doing business online is so commonplace, it’s difficult to remember how we lived life without it. Thanks to businesses migrating to the digital world, online content has become even more intensely valuable and continues to ruthlessly rise but what is the difference between eBusiness and eCommerce?

The Wonderful World Of eBusiness

The Wonderful World Of eBusiness

We’re going to go back in time and pretend like the internet is still new. Back then, any kind of business done online was called eBusiness. It seems like an archaic word now, but doing anything online for the first time was revolutionary.

Possibly the biggest difference between good old brick-and-mortar shops and eBusinesses is the constant, perpetual access.

Especially now that automation artificial intelligence is heavily integrated into eBusinesses, the advertising never stops. Marketing never stops. Transactions never stop. Excellent customer service never stops.

No longer does a business have to have a physical location to be considered legitimate. eBusinesses operate purely online. So how do we start an eCommerce eBusiness?

eBusiness Vs. eCommerce

eBusiness versus eCommerce

While you may not have heard of the term eBusiness, eCommerce may have certainly popped up on your radar. eCommerce is a specific subset of eBusiness that focuses on buying and selling online.

The e in both terms stands for “electronic networks” to refer to its “application of electronic network technology - including Internet and electronic data interchange (EDI).”

Many people use the two terms interchangeably, but they’re not synonyms. eBusiness is a broad categorical name for all business conducted online. eCommerce is much more clear and easy to understand. We’re talking plain and simple I-give-you-money-and-you-give-me-stuff. Customers purchase through a website.

The process may be entirely online where the goods are paid for online and delivered. Or, it can be just part of the process where a purchase is made online and the customer picks up their order at the physical store. What is the future of eCommerce?

Too Big For It’s Own Good? Amazon – eCommerce Behemoth

Too Big For Its Own Good Amazon eCommerce Behemoth

In today’s modern technological age, Amazon is the shining, successful, poster boy for eCommerce.

Amazon has gone far beyond simply eCommerce, it has aggressively expanded into industries from plain paper books, AI smart speakers, and livestreaming.

Most currently, Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, CEO, and (literally) the richest man on Earth, will be dipping his fortune into space colonization.

Some question whether Amazon has become too monolithic for its own good. The argument saying that it’s harder for the company to swiftly innovate because of its size.

An important question considering it’s not the strongest or smartest that survives. Survivors are those that can most easily adapt to change.

Word Up:

With all this eBusiness and eCommerce, what still hasn’t changed is the need to connect with people. Swomi use automation technology to direct a curated audience to your blog or website. Who knows? You may just be the next heir to Amazon! Contact us here to learn more.
