c) frustrated over tech’s over-promising and under-delivering
As a result, people demand ethical AI and algorithms that deliver fair and unbiased decisions. AI and algorithms decide a disproportionate amount of important decisions in our lives.
So it wasn’t pretty news to hear facial recognition software was proven to be significantly more reliable on white male faces. Or hearing that Amazon’s algorithmically-fueled hiring tool was biased towards women.
