So you’ve decided to bring a newbie on board… Mr. Chatbot. They’re a bit clueless and lack seasoned experience. But with your training, chatbots have the potential to support thousands of customer at once.

Train Them As Part Of The Team

Chatbots are best trained when they are trained as part of the team. They have a specific role and you won’t be mindlessly training a chatbot to do who-knows-what. They need to be fed with data relevant to the task you want them to accomplish.

5 Steps To Train Your Chatbot

1. Pre-training your bot – understand customer intent through sample chat logs and call recordings

2. Analysis of customer interactions – determining bot priorities relative to customer needs

3. Training the bot – now you have all the proper data, training can begin!

4. Measuring effectiveness – giving wrong answers more than 3% of the time means bot goes back to drawing board

5. Continuously improving – training never ends and chatbots improve the more they learn from interactions

Off To The Training Ground

Chatbots need live training to learn, but going live means they give your customers a clunky customer experience. It’s a bit of a catch-22. The trick is to slowly teach while still maintaining excellent customer service.

Word Up:

Just like any employee, chatbots can be an invaluable asset given they are set up for success with the proper training.
